Statement issued by UPWC

After the fierce attack by the Administration of Occupation Prisons on Female Palestinian prisoners, in which they were beaten, oppressed and isolated, in the 13th of January 2022, it was announced that seven Female Palestinian prisoners were infected with Covid-19 (Shorouk Dweiat, Fadwa Hammad, Ruba al-Assi, Shatha Odeh, Tasnim al-Assad, Shorouk al-Badan & Nurhan Awad), in which led to the complete isolation of all female prisoners in Al-Damoun prison.

The Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees holds the Zionist occupation authorities fully responsible for the health and life of the Palestinian female prisoners, and calls out to all human right defenders to interfere urgently and practice in lobbying for legal justice and the release of women prisoners, and calls out to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to send medical staff to monitor the health conditions of prisoners under a policy of deliberate health neglect of prisoners and female prisoners in prisons that lack minimum humanitarian life requirements.
